The End, The Beginning

Today I pay the last of my estimated taxes...sigh... 54 cents out of each dollar goes to the military, not including the Iraq War...sigh...who knew our no. 1 business as a country was war? My mother, who remembers WW2 and who was living in Berlin at the time, said that anyone who has ever experienced war, would do everything in their power to avoid it. And so we have war...
Today I send gifts to my cousins, Peter and Alex, who are stationed in Iraq...some tunes to keep their minds off of where they are.
Today I go through my studio and sort receipts and get folders and paperwork ready for 2007. I think it will be a good year...I have hope that it will be. I think it will be a happy New Year.

Christmas Day
Christmas Eve

For Christmas Eve, Fred took me out for sushi. We had a feast; oysters, octopus, makerel, salmon, yellowtail, and spicy tuna roll- and lots of saki. Yum.
After, our friend Phil was celebrating his 50th birthday on the beach. Phil is a Christmas baby. He has a tradition, and the first time I whitnessed it was about 7 years ago. He told me that he was having a celebration on the beach and as I walked closer to the beach I saw disturbed looking tourists and their children leaving the beach...when I go to where Phil was, he was standing with his surfboard, wearing a helmet, but otherwise he was buck naked. He's been doing his naked surfing thing every year for 20 years on the same beach. We missed the naked surfing ritual this year, but were there for the fire and Phil's impromtu story telling...good times.

To the Printers I Did Go

I went to the printer today to have some postcards printed up. The printer I went to was in Morro Bay. I don't know why I don't go there more often. Today was lovely out; sunny, fall like, and without a wind. I walked all up and down the Embarcadero and watched the boats putter by and the birds perched around waiting for fishermen to come back to dock.
I'll have to go back to see the proofs tomorrow. ...I'm going to wander around some more when I do....
